Otras raras buenas familias (Other Queer Good Families) (2021)

Neon sign installed on museum facade
Public comission

This sign is inspired on the strategies that bars, hotels and pharmacies use to advertise goods and services for sale in an emphatic and frequently unilateral way.
While the image invites to meditate on the meaning of the proximity of two hands, the text mentions the place that families have in the construction of identity.
By naming something as raro (queer) and bueno (good) at the same time, I’m interested in inverting historically unfare narratives that have been used to justify the exclusion of diverse homes from the socially accepted.
